Because it’s in the air!

Have you been hit in the head with a flying abuse sometime? Don’t think so, now try to recall when you were travelling in a public transport bus, carpool, flight etc did you hear any curse words in light vein? If yes, that’s the case, you already caught one. Read ahead I have a remedy to save you from the next one.

In the recent years, there has been an exponential rise in the use of curse words and abuses to channel our anger, you would think, but more so to make a statement about how cool we are with this new ‘abuse if you feel like’ approach. I believe that curse words are not new to our society, its one of the things that remains more or less same, in essence, in the majority of languages in India, as well as the world, hence making it one of those areas where we really are united. The idea of abusing someone because you are not quite happy with them is okay because that’s what they were there for. And that’s what makes these curse words less frequently used. Lesser become the chances of you catching a random abuse. Recently, these have become mainstream, among the younger generation, meaning they no longer refer to your anger or disdain, it reflects your cool temperament. Oh, yes! You heard me right, saying ‘fuck’ is equivalent to ‘oh, really’. And I was of a double mind to write the f-word, but I guess its hard to identify now what ‘f’ is this that is inappropriate to say out loud. This new approach where your conversation with friends is full of ‘fuck, is that true’, or ‘behanchod, kya bol raha hai’, as a mark of how comfortable you are with your friends, mind you if you say these you are really in the next level of friendship else not so much! To add to this menace, we have umpteen online videos, which go through an ‘abuse thesaurus’ after the script is ready hence bringing into the dialogues, ‘the appeal’ using curse words. This is how the world of communication is changing now. Maybe the next time oxford updates the dictionary, it may as well add alternate meaning to curse words, hence giving the younger generations a real reason to argue with their parents on the usage of these words. Maybe we all will be comfortable using them, and this piece of mine will be rendered useless.

Till then you are advised to make sure that next time you are rubbing some odomos to save yourself from malaria, rub some common sense as well, might save someone from some flying abuses.

(No images to depict this, because google is not upgraded for this new cool phenomenon)
